Innovative stump core extracting machine: technical & economic assessment
In order to meet the rising needs in energy wood, new resources such as stumps must be mobilised. Forêt Logistique Conseil therefore assessed the technical and economic interests of an innovative system consisting in extracting stump cores by drilling.
This research and development project was conducted in 2013 and labelled by the competitive cluster XYLOFUTUR. Coordinated by Forêt Logistique Conseil, it also involved the CASTAGNET DUMEOU company and CRPF Aquitaine. The project received financial support from the state, from the Aquitaine Region, from the ADEME Aquitaine, and from the departments of Lot-et-Garonne, Landes and Gironde. In 2014 the project was presented at the IUFRO World Forestry Congress. A poster (see below) was also presented during the FORMEC conference in 2014 in Géradmer (France) and during the INFRES meeting in Rome in 2015.
